Excel Tip #2
Question: Is there a way to count the number of blank cells in a range?
Answer: Yes, use the COUNTBLANK function.

Process (Excel 2003 and 2007):

1.    Select target cell and enter =COUNTBLANK(range). The range refers to the range of cells that you would like to check for blank cells. In this example, the range of cells is from A2 to A11.

2.    The result of the function will be given as an integer.

Note: The COUNTBLANK function will only count the number of completely empty cells. If there are cells in the range that have a value suppressed (for example, a zero value hidden as blank), this will not be included in the number returned by the function.
