    Upgrade to 5.5

I'm in the process of upgrading to 5.5, from 5.4

    Where can I get Pervasive.SQL v9.6?

    Hello Louise,

    You have two options:

    1)       Purchase it from your Sage Accpac Solution Provider

     or

    2)        Buy it online from Pervasive web site www.pervasive.com.

Note: Pervasive v9.6 is old, suggests purchasing Pervasive v10.x instead.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Upgrade to 5.5

    Thanks Peter.

Will I have any problems running Sage 5.5 on Pervasive v10.x?

Any idea why nobody or documentation mentioned that you needed to upgrade to pervasive v9.6?  The first notice I received on this was in reading the SM readme file, a little too late...

    Hello Louise,

That’s a very good question. I suspect that you are doing the Sage Accpac upgrade yourself. Your Sage Accpac solution provider will tell you to purchase new database engine software before scheduling the upgrade process.

All I can say is that software development companies need to support each other in order to stay in business. Therefore, I believe Sage Accpac has made a policy to support the current version and one version back on the database engine such as Pervasive.SQL.

Sage Accpac v5.5A supports Pervasive.SQL v9.6 and v10.x and that’s why I suggest buying Pervasive.SQL v10.x instead of v9.6. Having the current version of Pervasive.SQL will ensure that it will be good for another upgrade of Sage Accpac v5.x in the future.

    Hope this helps.

     Hi Peter

    Thanks.

FYI, I did contact my Sage Accpac solution provider and that was not mentioned.

    Thanks again.

Huh? The version supported has everything to do with functionality in the db software as well as support issues with older versions of external software. Accpac/Sage could care a rats patudy about supporting Pervasive.

A way better piece of advice would be to switch your system to SQL - Accpac is currently offering that for free and you will end up with a faster, more robust system.
